How to Check NID Smart Card Status: Online & SMS Methods

To check the NID Smart Card status, you will need two pieces of information: one is the National Identity Card number or Form number, and the other is the date of birth.

If your National Identity Card is ready, then you can check the Smart Card status using the National Identity Card number.

If you do not have the National Identity Card number, you were given a slip from the office where you registered for the Smart Card. This slip contains a Form number.

You can also check the Smart Card status using this Form number, along with your date of birth. Using either of the above-mentioned information and your date of birth, you can easily check the Smart Card status.

Voter/NID Smart Card Status

After registering for the NID at the election office or online, the Smart Card is delivered after a few days. However, due to online-based issues or other reasons, it may take longer for the Smart Card to be ready.

In such cases, you need to patiently wait for the Smart Card to be ready.

But how long it will take for the Smart Card to be ready and when you will receive it can be known through a specific process, which is the Smart Card Status Check.

In Bangladesh, after registering for a Smart Card and it is accepted by the Election Office, the Smart Card becomes ready. A few days later, the original Smart Card is delivered.

When I applied for my NID smart card, I checked it online easily. The process is presented below.

How to Check NID Smart Card Status Online

As mentioned earlier, two pieces of information are required to check the smart card status online. You will also need a smartphone.

After collecting the required information, follow the steps below to check your smart card status from your smartphone:

• First, go to the Smart Card Status Check website using any browser.
• After entering the website, you will have to provide the required information:

• The first is your National Identity Card number. If you already have one, input the number here.
• If you are newly registered, use the Form number provided by the Election Office.
• Next, enter your date of birth accurately in the specified field.
• Below that, a blurred CAPTCHA will be shown. Enter the CAPTCHA correctly in the answer box.
• Then click on the Submit button.

After clicking the submit button, if you see the message “Your smart card is ready to deliver“, you can be sure that your smart card is ready.

In that case, you can contact your nearest Election Office to collect your smart card. Once there, your smart card will be handed over to you.

On the other hand, if the message “Your card distribution date is not scheduled yet, please try again later” appears, it means your smart card is not ready yet.

In this case, you will need to wait a few more days for your smart card to be ready.

After that, you can check again using the above method to see if your smart card is ready for delivery.

How to Check Smart Card Status via Mobile SMS

Besides online, smart card status can also be checked offline, i.e., via SMS. To check the smart card status through SMS, follow the steps below:

• First, open the message option on any mobile phone.
• In the message option, type SC
• Then give a space, and type NID
• After that, enter your NID card number. If you don’t have the NID number, use the form number given by the Election Office.
• Then send the SMS to 105.

After a few moments, you will receive a reply SMS informing you of the status of your smart card.

Example:

• Type: SC NID 123456789
• And send it to 105.

If you see the message: “Your card distribution date is not scheduled yet, please try again later”, then it means your smart card is not yet ready for delivery.

On the other hand, if the message shows: “Your card is ready to deliver”, then it means your smart card is ready to be delivered.

Therefore, if you receive such a message, go to your nearest Election Office and collect your smart card.

FAQs about Smart NID Card Status

Here are some important frequently asked questions and answers for better understanding of smart NID status checking.

How long does it take to receive the smart card?

It is actually not possible to say exactly how long it will take to receive the smart card because in some cases, the smart card gets ready very quickly, while in other cases, it may take longer.

It entirely depends on the Bangladesh Election Commission. However, usually, the smart card becomes ready for delivery within 3 months.

In some cases, it may take longer.

Is there any way to get the smart card within one month?

There is generally no way to get the smart card within one month. The Bangladesh Election Commission takes a specific period of time for distributing the smart card, and only after that, it is distributed.

However, if you urgently need the smart card, you can visit the Election Office and communicate with them.

Can the smart card be checked using only a phone number?

To check the smart card status, the form number is definitely required. Along with that, the date of birth is also necessary. Only if both pieces of information are provided together, the smart card status can be checked.

Can the smart card be checked using only the date of birth?

The answer is no. It is not possible to check the smart card using only the date of birth. For this, you will need either the National ID number or the form number.
