How to Check Bangladesh Passport Status Online in 2025
For those of us in Bangladesh or abroad who apply for an e-passport or a machine-readable passport online, it takes several days after application for it to be approved and delivered.
During this period, the passport can become ready for delivery at any time. However, even if the passport is ready for delivery, SMS notifications often do not arrive.
That’s why we can check the passport status at any time, and if it is ready for delivery, we can collect it from the passport office.
Below, based on my own experience, I have provided a detailed explanation of how to check the status of a passport after applying. These guidelines will help you accurately check the status of your e-passport or MRP passport.
Why You Need to Check Your BD Passport Status
In Bangladesh, we apply for a passport for various purposes. After applying, the passport is approved and delivered depending on the type of passport and the type of delivery.
Sometimes, due to a heavy workload at the passport office, even after the passport is approved and ready for delivery, there is a delay in receiving an SMS notification. In some cases, the SMS notification never arrives.
By checking the application status online, we can see whether the passport is ready for delivery. If it is ready, we can collect it from the nearest passport office.
This is the main reason why checking the passport status is important. Many Bangladeshi expatriates also apply for or renew their passports online. In such cases, they too need to check the status of their passport.
Required Info to Check Passport Status
To check the status after applying for an e-Passport, some information will be required. However, this will depend on the type of passport.
If you are checking an e-passport online, then you will need the online registration ID or application ID, along with the date of birth. Using these two pieces of information, the e-passport status can be checked online.
On the other hand, if you want to check the application status of an MRP, i.e., a machine-readable passport, then you will need the passport application’s enrollment ID and date of birth.
However, after applying for an e-passport, I was able to easily check the passport status using just the application ID and date of birth. Below, I have presented this method.
How to Check Bangladesh E-Passport Status Online
Most people in Bangladesh and expatriates generally apply for an e-passport. That’s why we will first learn how to check the status of an e-passport application online.
For this, collect the online registration ID or application ID and date of birth- these two pieces of information and follow the process below.
- First, visit the Bangladesh E-Passport Online Portal website.
- Here, in the “Check Application Status” section, you will see several boxes to input your information.
- In the first box, there is the option for Online Registration ID or Application ID. Provide either one of these two pieces of information.
- Below, you will see a box labeled “Select Date of Birth.” Select your date of birth in day, month, and year format.
- Next, at the bottom, you will see a robot check option. Tick the checkbox to the left of “I’m not a robot” and then click the “Check” button below.

If you see the message “Your passport is ready to deliver,” it means your passport is ready for delivery, and you are instructed to collect it from the nearest office.
On the other hand, if the passport status shows as Pending, it means more time is needed for approval and delivery. So, in that case, you will have to wait patiently.
